Vericom Technologies Partners with deCarta to

Increase Mapping Capabilities

Vericom customers to receive optimized Mobile Resource Management mapping functions for improved efficiency

COLUMBIA, Md. (July 29, 2008) – Vericom Technologies®, a leading provider of Mobile Resource Management (MRM) solutions, today announced that it has partnered with deCarta, the award-winning and leading provider of advanced and comprehensive geospatial software platforms, to increase its mapping capabilities. Vericom’s new advanced mapping capabilities will be launched to all customers later this summer in the company’s new MRM solution offering, VeriVision MRM.

Vericom’s web-based MRM solution has embedded deCarta’s Drill Down Server® technology, providing customers with robust map rendering capabilities for more efficient tracking, routing, and management of remote vehicles, employees and assets. In addition to Vericom’s strong reporting capabilities, new and enhanced features allow improved usability and increased customer efficiency, including:

•  Rich Internet Mapping and Tracking:
Employing deCarta’s high-performance geospatial software platform originally leveraged by Google and Yahoo Maps for their mapping capability, Vericom’s maps are now second to none in the industry. All maps have the flexibility and visual layout users have come to expect from a tier-one mapping application. More visually intuitive and robust maps provide fleet managers and administrators with easily accessible information in a simple to use format, increasing productivity.

•  Directions and Routing:
Vericom’s new maps allow users to find the most efficient driving route, total distance, and total time between landmarked customer locations and vehicles/employees in the field. Enhanced routing decreases vehicles’ time and distance traveled, reducing gas costs, increasing the life of vehicles and improving the CO2 footprint.

"Higher productivity and fuel cost-reduction initiatives are driving enterprise demand for more precise mobile resource management tools," said J. Kim Fennell, president and CEO of deCarta. "We're proud to be working closely with Vericom Technologies and providing the technology to further enhance the utility and efficiency of mapping for their customers."

"Vericom Technologies is excited to partner with deCarta, the leading map rendering company in this space. Their technology provides the rich feature set, innovation and scale that our customers require,” stated Jeff Pierson, Director of Product Management of Vericom Technologies. “This partnership is a key milestone on our strategic roadmap and new VeriVision MRM offering, and shows our commitment to providing an easy-to-use, end-to-end, yet modular, platform that allows enterprise and SMB customers to more efficiently manage their remote resources, employees and work in the field.”

Vericom Mobile Resource Management System Saves Friend Tire Thousands in Vehicle and Merchandise Loss

COLUMBIA, Md. (September 5, 2007) – Vericom Technologies®, Inc., a nationwide provider of Mobile Resource Management (MRM) solutions to service organizations, announced today that Friend Tire Company, a nationwide tire dealer and delivery service, was able to recover thousands of dollars in stolen vehicles and merchandise thanks to the Vericom GPS-enabled devices installed on their fleet of delivery trucks.

Friend Tire uses Vericom’s flagship solution, VeriVision™, on their fleet of 85 delivery trucks, an MRM solution with detailed vehicle location capabilities. In the past year, Friend Tire has been able to recover two stolen vehicles and their contents – in Texas, a 26,000 lb. box truck with $40,000 worth of merchandise and in Tennessee, a 3/4 ton pick-up truck with a full rack of merchandise. VeriVision makes it possible to monitor the location and progress of vehicles, allowing for immediate asset location.

“With savings of more than $100,000 in trucks and tires, the VeriVision solution has paid for itself many times over and helped us avoid costly insurance premium increases,” said Rick Holle, Fleet Manager of Friend Tire. “Having lost a truckload or two of tires, we knew we needed an MRM solution to safeguard against theft. With a solid reputation and attractive start-up costs, Vericom was the best choice for Friend Tire. We’ve used Vericom for two years now with excellent results. In addition to theft recovery, we’ve been able to verify vehicle speed and distance and prove the innocence of a driver involved in a head-on collision. We hope these things don’t happen, but if they do, it’s great to have Vericom help prove our case.”

“A success story like Friend Tire’s is a win for everyone involved,” stated John Bjorn, Chief Executive Officer of Vericom. “It illustrates the significant benefit to be gained by any delivery or distribution company that wants to efficiently and effectively manage their vehicles, mobile workforce and remote assets. In addition to theft recovery, our customers tell us that our MRM solution makes it possible to track vehicle routes, control fuel usage and mileage, and determine vehicle location. The results – increased productivity, reduced operational costs, and lowered insurance premiums – pave the way for profitable growth in the delivery industry.”

Vericom’s Mobile Resource Management (MRM) solutions enable organizations to more efficiently manage their vehicle fleets, mobile workforce and remote assets. Through real-time information delivery, companies have an important view into their business, and therefore have a greater impact on reducing operational costs and increasing mobile workforce productivity. COLUMBIA, Md. – Vericom Technologies®, Inc., a nationwide provider of Mobile Resource Management (MRM) solutions to service organizations, announced today that Guardian Companies, Inc., a contracting company specializing in utility, site development and heavy highway construction, has selected Vericom as its official MRM solutions provider.

Under the terms of the agreement, Guardian intends to deploy Vericom’s flagship solution, VeriVision™ to its entire fleet of more than 300 pieces of construction equipment. Locating equipment on job sites, capturing interstate travel for tax reporting, and eliminating unauthorized vehicle use are just a few of the ways Guardian will rely on the VeriVision solution to increase productivity, reduce operational costs and automate processes.

“As we were looking for a way to capture the audit information required by the International Registration Plan (IRP), it became clear that Vericom was the best choice for Guardian,” stated Sherry Maule, Controller of Guardian Companies. “Vericom makes it easy for us to know the location of all of our vehicles and to capture trip reports for our drivers. The detailed trip reports eliminate the need for us to gather information from our drivers –information that was difficult to obtain and typically incomplete. Now we are able to quickly and easily prove that we’re in compliance with the IRP and are able to ensure we’re being charged accurately for interstate travel.”

Dominic Vietri, Chief Operating Officer of Vericom, said, “We are pleased to be part of Guardian’s solution for IRP audit process compliance. More and more construction-industry leaders like Guardian are realizing the benefits that an MRM solution delivers to everyday business in managing their vehicles, mobile workforce and remote assets. Our construction customers tell us that, in addition to IRP audit compliance, they save significantly on fuel costs, reduce or eliminate unauthorized vehicle usage, and reduce vehicle loss on job sites. We anticipate significant growth as the construction industry’s acceptance of MRM solutions continue and are well-positioned to work hand-in-hand with these leaders to help improve their businesses.”
